Hello,
If you missed any episodes last week, now’s the perfect time to catch up! I had some incredible conversations, including a deep dive with Amy Odell about her fascinating biography of Gwyneth Paltrow, an inside look with the filmmakers behind One Night in Idaho: The College Murders, and a fun chat with Kathy Aldredge from Mr. & Mrs. Murder. Listen here.
And coming up next: a must-listen interview with Randy Taraborrelli, the acclaimed author of JFK: Public, Private, Secret. Also, Brian Moylan is back this week to talk about Bravo.
Thank you for sharing these episodes, and for sharing this weekly list.
Here is what to watch this week:
Documentaries:
Capturing Their Killer: The Girls on the High Bridge (Hulu) is a three-part ABC News documentary that provides a comprehensive, wide-angle examination of the 2017 Delphi murders. The series follows the story of Abby Williams and Libby German, leading up to the 2024 conviction of Richard Allen. Through exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes trial footage, it explores the case itself, the emotional toll on the community, and the many theories that continue to circulate.
The series features interviews with the victims’ families as well as Kathy Allen, the wife of the convicted killer. (August 5)
SEC: Any Given Saturday (Netflix) takes viewers inside some of college football’s most storied programs in the SEC, offering unfiltered access to coaches and players both on and off the field. Even as a Big Ten fan, I really enjoyed this series — you don’t need to be a college football devotee to appreciate the compelling storytelling. (August 5)
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills (HBO) is a five part series, with new episodes released weekly each Tuesday through September 2. Head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane will be featured alongside the 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player, quarterback Josh Allen, and an array of veteran and rookie players. The Buffalo Bills make their debut on Hard Knocks this season, having never appeared before in the series’ 25-year history. (August 5)
Stolen: Heist of the Century (Netflix) delves into the brazen 2003 Antwerp Diamond Heist, often dubbed “The Heist of the Century,” in which thieves walked into what was considered an impregnable vault and made off with an estimated $100 million to $500 million worth of diamonds, cash, and precious jewelry — most of which still remains unrecovered.
The film features exclusive first‑time interviews with both the detectives from Antwerp’s notorious “Diamond Squad” who cracked the case and, remarkably, the alleged mastermind behind the theft — Leonardo Notarbartolo of the Italian criminal group known as “The School of Turin”. (August 8)
Make sure that you watch episode two of The Yogurt Shop Murders on HBO. (August 10)
Reality Television:
The Valley (Bravo) airs the second part of their reunion. Jax continues to be one of the worst people that has graced television screens. (August 5)
Real Housewives of Miami (Bravo) this week has Stephanie continuing to stir waters with Lisa Hochstein, particularly over Lisa’s habitual tardiness and shifting alliances, while teasing drama involving Alexia Nepola’s relationship struggles. (August 6)
Make sure that you check out all of the available episodes of Perfect Match on Netflix.
Enjoy!
