Happy Monday! Can’t beat 4/4 – also my birthday.
I have so many great things for you to watch this week. My episodes on Wednesday and Friday can’t be missed with excellent guests.
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On (Netflix) has one partner ready to get married, but the other isn’t quite as sure. In this show each will choose a new potential partner from one of the other couples, in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different possible futures. Reminds me of Temptation Island, and with Nick and Vanessa Lachey as hosts. Think about how many people you know who have given someone an ultimatum. (April 6)
Serving the Hamptons (Discovery+) is about the lives of the restaurant staff at 75 Main in Southhampton. It’s like if Vanderpump Rules and Summer House had a baby. (April 7)
Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off (HBO) is an all-encompassing look at the life of Tony Hawk, his legendary career, and relationship with the sport with which he’s been synonymous for decades. Hawk, a pioneer of modern vertical skating who is still pushing his limits at the age of 53, remains one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. (April 5)
Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star (Netflix) Soccer player Senzo Meyiwa was a national hero before his killing shocked South Africa. Who did it, and why? This five part docuseries dives into the evidence. On October 26, 2014, Meyiwa was shot and killed in a robbery at his girlfriend, actress and singer Kelly Khumalo's house in Vosloorus. There were six eyewitnesses at the scene, including some of his closest friends. The series delves into the beloved soccer star's murder, sharing insight into what transpired that fateful night when Meyiwa was gunned down in what was alleged to be a botched robbery. It is only now, eight years later, that the suspects - alleged hitmen for hire - are going on trial. Were these five men involved, or was it a cover-up for something more sinister?" (April 7)
The Dropout (Hulu) has the series finale on April 7. The Dropout is based on the podcast The Dropout hosted by Rebecca Jarvis and produced by ABC News. It documents the disgraced biotechnology company Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes (portrayed by Amanda Seyfried). I am interviewing employee #5 at Theranos this week. Don’t miss the episode!
The Kardashians: A Robin Roberts Special (ABC) airs on Wednesday night. Excited to hear about their new show debuting next week and about their love lives.
Ken Burns’s two-part, four-hour documentary, "Benjamin Franklin," explores the revolutionary life of one of the18th century's most consequential and compelling personalities, whose work and words unlocked the mystery of electricity and helped create the United States. (April 4)
You MUST check out The Invisible Pilot (HBO), a tale of a charismatic, daredevil husband and father who unexpectedly jumped off a bridge in 1977, or so people thought. Gary Betzner faked his death and then began a career of secret identities and a double life of dangerous missions and law-breaking. It’s the wildest tale. The director is on my show this week. (April 4, every Monday for three weeks).
Make sure check out Abby Gardner’s substack. Abby is host of We Have Notes podcast, and we will be on each other’s podcasts this week. http://wehavenotes.substack.com/
Please let me know what you think of all these series and shows. Would love to know which ones are your favorites. Also, feel free to pass my lists onto your favorite people.
