What to Watch This Week With Kate Casey
August 15-22, 2022
Happy Monday!
I am looking forward to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week because Sutton drops a bombshell about Erika’s latest lawsuit. I have a big scoop about the Girardi case in my NEW PATREON episode.
The first thing you must watch this week is Untold (Netflix) about untold stories in sports. From football to basketball and streetball to sailing, these stories aren’t the ones you’ve heard before, even if you think you have. Even if you don’t love sports, you will love this series.
Manti Te’o is an American football linebacker who played college football at Notre Dame, where he was a consensus All-American and received eight national awards. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Manti was born in Laie, Hawaii, of Samoan ancestry. – six siblings total, a stand out high school player.
The first two episodes of Untold are titled The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist, chronicling the shocking saga of Te’o being the target of a catfishing hoax right as he reached the peak of his college football career with the Fighting Irish in 2012. The documentary seeks to tell the complete story of how Te’o’s supposed girlfriend, “Lennay Kekua,” didn’t actually exist and the media firestorm that the story generated at the time.
There are two Princess Diana documentaries/docuseries.
The Princess (HBO) is an intimate an immersive look at the life of Princess Diana, directed by Academy Award nominee Ed Perkins. The Princess draws solely from contemporaneous archival audio and video footage to take audiences back to key events in Diana’s life as they happened, including their seemingly fairy-tale public courtship and wedding, the birth of their two sons, their bitter divorce, and Diana’s tragic and untimely death on August 31, 1997. For the first time, hear exclusively from the key figures who investigated the beloved Princess’ death as they provide new insight and reveal never-before-heard details. (August 18)
If you want something light, watch Selena + Chef (HBO Max). Selena Gomez heads to the beach with her friends and family for some summer fun. (August 18)
Making the Cut (Amazon Prime Video) begins seasontThree of the fashion-competition series, bringing together a talented group of 10 designers from around the globe. (August 19)
The Killer Nanny (ID) is about the murder trial of British au pair Louise Woodward was televised live in the UK transfixing viewers and splitting public opinion about whether she was guilty or innocent. Twenty-five years later evidence is reexamined with unprecedented access to witnesses, the defense team, the prosecution, and members of the jury who decided her fate. (August 21)
This one grabbed my attention because I have met the person profiled. He dated my old neighbor. I had the weirdest experience, which I will talk about in my Tuesday episode this week.
Superspreader (FX and Hulu) More than two years into the coronavirus pandemic, public health officials are still struggling to convince people that there is overwhelming evidence to prove that vaccines save lives. Why is there so much distrust? Researchers blame people like Dr. Joseph Mercola, an osteopathic physician in Florida who has long been a subject of criticism and government regulatory actions for his promotion of unproven or unapproved treatments. More recently, he has become a leading spreader of Coronavirus misinformation online, according to researchers, building a vast operation to push natural health cures and disseminate anti-vaccination content — while reaping immense profits. Please let me know which shows/docs you enjoy most this week, and share this newsletter with your friends on social media.
