Happy Monday!
I have a fantastic set of episodes for you this week. I hope you listened to the Saturday series episode last week with Jim Jordan too.
Here is your list this of what to watch this week, and you can hear it in full in today's new episode.
Documentaries:
100 Foot Wave (HBO) returns for a third season. This is my absolute favorite sports series of all time. Winner of the 2023 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program and 8-time Emmy Award-nominee, documentary filmmaker Chris Smith’s third chapter of the exhilarating series features both new and familiar faces but narratively stands on its own, where viewers can jump in without having seen previous seasons, although you will want to do so. (May 1)
Southern Fried Lies (Oxygen) when one of Camden’s richest men dies mysteriously, a web of lies overwhelms this tightknit, rural community, leaving families destroyed and the town forever altered. (April 27)
You can listen to my interview with the director and executive producer.
Hollywood Demons (HBO) runs the last episodes of the series this week. The newest episode is about the stalking of stars. Fan obsessions can turn terrifying for superstars like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. In the season finale family members of stalkers reveal the dangerous side of fandom. And a gripping firsthand account from a celebrity with a relentless stalker exposes the very real dangers that come with living in the spotlight. (August 28)
Chef’s Table: Legends (Netflix) profiles legendary celebrity chefs whose influence has transcended borders (and mediums). (April 28)
Formula E: Driver (Amazon Prime Video) delves into the lives of four prominent names from the electric open-wheel series throughout the 2023-24, with TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa (pictured above), Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans, Andretti’s Jake Dennis, and Dan Ticktum of ERT (now Cupra Kiro). (May 2)
Angi: Fake Life, True Crime (Netflix) - Sentenced for the murder and impersonation of her friend, this documentary sheds new light on Angi — and the death of her husband years before. Consisting of two episodes, it analyses the murder of young Ana Páez, at the hands of María Ángeles Molina (“Angi”) in 2008. This case was referred to by the media as “The Near-Perfect Crime” and Angi is currently serving a sentence for it. The series also sheds light on Angi's past, her marriage to Juan Antonio Álvarez Litben, and the businessman's death in 1996. (May 1)
Reality Shows:
Wear Whatever the F You Want (Prime Video) has Clinton Kelly and Stacy London transforming clients one at a time with fashion that celebrates personal expression over outdated style rules. (April 29)
Castle Impossible (HGTV) Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira renovate her late grandfather’s 500-year-old chateau on a 130-acre estate just outside of Paris, France, restoring the remaining dilapidated floors and buildings.(April 29)
Anyone else having problems accessing Angi, Fake Life, True Crime on Netflix? I’ve been trying to get it for a couple weeks. It’s like it was never released or taken off.
